All of Klarskin's new product launches focus around healing acne. Our aim has always been getting to the root cause of acne, however as the company has grown we see a lot of first time customers who have tried every skincare routine under the sun with no real change to their skin. Therefore we focused on creating products that are not only good enough for first time acne sufferers, but also made for individuals with deeper underlying issues, those coming off pharmaceutical drugs who want a solution to any harsher side effects now their acne has subsided (whilst also ensuring it does not come back).

Here are our tips and recommendations for a full acne routine

The most common symptoms that people report after using harsh acne products for a long time, or even percription topicals and ingestible (for example steroids, antibiotics, topical prescriptions, accutane) are:

• Chapped & Dry Skin
• Dry Lips or Scalp
• Poor or Damaged Digestion
• Nosebleeds
• A reoccurrence of acne once the treatment stops

The most common acne prescription such as accutane specifically works by decreasing the size of your oil glands and suppressing oil production. In this process, it also reduces the size of the sebaceous glands, which are the glands in the skin that produce sebum.

What most people who are on accutane, or use any harsh topical acne products that strip these important skin barriers don't know, is that the sebaceous glands are part of the body's exocrine system, sebum being a vital part of the skin's natural oil.

Removing these not only reduces the build up of oil that may cause acne, but actually ages skin, leave it more susceptible to scarring, pigmentation, premature wrinkles, sun burn, dryness, the list goes on. This is the problem with quick fixes when it comes to acne - they often lead to worse long term affects. Sebum is a vital component of normal, healthy skin. 

It is the body's built-in moisturizer, responsible for locking in hydration. It is integral to the acid mantle, a thin layer of skin barrier that helps neutralize invading pathogens and stabilize the skin's PH levels.

Sebum has an antibacterial function, has an anti-inflammatory effect on skin and is essential to the skin's wound healing response.

This is why we created Glow Screen SPF 50, our first even high protection, organic, cold pressed SPFOil.

This formula has taken us 2 years to complete, and the reason we opted for an organic cold-pressed oil rather than a moisturiser, is for these exact reasons: 

• Oil on oily skin can help reduce excess oil production and breakouts better than drying topical ingredients
• Certain oils actually repair the skin barrier and nourish broken skin rather than drying it out
• Certain oils actually help fight acne, not just prevent it

For example, there are plenty of studies showing how low linoleic acid levels cause acne, so we have included a high percentage in our new SPF 50 Oil, along with other incredible ingredients like resveratrol and magnolia bark oil.

Other topical ingredients to regularly use post-prescription 

A gentle retinol post Accutane will also help with any post-acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. We have developed a new formulation using encapsulated retinol, which is particularly gentle for sensitive skin and contains several additional ingredients that are not normally combined with retinol to soothe and calms redness. Along with azaleic and ferulic acid, it brightens and promotes healthy cell turnover, something that is crucial for post-acne skin.

Finally we have a vitamin B3 day serum coming that promotes stem cell turnover, reducing not only acne breakouts but healing acne scarring. With the use of our SPF 50 Oil product, you will notice the reduction within the month.
